Growing More Than Just Mushrooms: Straw Hat Mushroom Co. Partners with One Tree Planted
At Straw Hat Mushroom Co., our journey began with a simple fascination for the fungal kingdom—the way it recycles life, connects ecosystems, and provides some of the most nutrient-dense food on the planet. Based right here in the heart of Texas, we’ve dedicated ourselves to cultivating premium culinary mushrooms that bring earthy, gourmet flavors to your kitchen.
But as a new business, we believe that being "sustainable" isn’t just about how we grow our Lion’s Mane or Oyster mushrooms; it’s about the legacy we leave on the earth that sustains us. That is why we are incredibly proud to announce our official partnership with One Tree Planted.
Roots and Mycelium: A Natural Connection
In nature, mushrooms and trees share a profound, symbiotic relationship. Beneath the forest floor, mycelial networks act as a "Wood Wide Web," transporting nutrients and communication between trees. Without healthy forests, mushrooms wouldn't thrive; and without fungi, forests couldn't survive.
By partnering with One Tree Planted, we are closing the loop. We want to ensure that for every batch of mushrooms harvested in our facility, we are giving back to the global canopy that makes life possible.
How It Works: One Order, One Tree
We’ve made the commitment simple. For every order over $50, Straw Hat Mushroom Co. will donate $1 directly to One Tree Planted. Because it costs exactly one dollar to plant one tree, your purchase directly results in a new sapling taking root in a reforestation project somewhere around the world.
Why One Tree Planted?
One Tree Planted is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit on a mission to make it simple for anyone to help the environment by planting trees. Their projects span the globe—from restoring areas affected by wildfires in the Western U.S. to protecting critical habitat for biodiversity in the Amazon and across Africa. Their transparency and "boots on the ground" approach align perfectly with our values of local integrity and global responsibility.
Small Steps, Big Impact
We know we are just starting out and our farm is small. But much like a single mushroom spore can eventually colonize an entire forest floor, we believe small actions lead to massive change. When you choose Straw Hat Mushroom Co., you aren't just getting the freshest Texas-grown culinary mushrooms; you’re joining a movement to reforest our planet.
Thank you for supporting our farm and for helping us grow a greener future, one tree, and one mushroom, at a time.
Sincerely,
Antonio Nungaray
Founder of Straw Hat Mushroom Co.
